There is a great new publication from the Australian Breakfast Cereal Manufacturers Forum and written by Professor Peter Williams that decribes the contribution of breakfast cereal to a healthy diet.
Peter William states:
"Regular consumpttion of breakfast cereals can help ensure an adequate nutrient intake and may assist in reducing the risk of being overweight or developing cardiovascular diease or diabetes."
The Benefits of Breakfast Cereal Consumption has been reviewed by Choice and Emma Stirling includes a post in her blog from Peter as a guest expert. The full paper is available here.
Cereals such as breakfast biscuits (e.g. Weetbix, Vitabrits) or a natural muesli or rolled oats are great choices. There are also a number of commercial cereals with a variety of wholegrains and fruit. Start your day the best way with a bowl of breakfast cereal- also a great chance to get some valuable calcium from low fat milk or youghurt.
